Rowena, the owner, personally oversaw everything and managed our party announcements with an elegance that elevated the entire affair into something that felt decidedly posh. the ease of mind that it brings), 3) that someone else is in charge of providing food and keeping things moving along schedule. The magic of this place is 1) that the environment spurs imagination in real-world settings like a veterinarian clinic, restaurant, and grocery store (unlike indoor play gyms), 2) that you can always see your little ones from nearly any point in the room (ah. The parents could rest, socialize, eat, drink, AND keep an eye on their kids at the same time. I celebrated my child's birthday here recently and it was AMAZING. My kids (ages 10 and 13) got a bit bored after a while, but for the price, this isn't a bad way to blow an afternoon. I might have been a but harsher (because rules) had I paid full cost. Nobody from outside MoCo is allowed in, and they will check your ID to confirm.įor some reason, I was only charged $6 (the city rate) instead of $11 (I live in Silver Spring) so that admittedly influenced my rating. They don't want riff-raff in here.īut check beforehand. I get the sense the city really cares about this facility and treats it accordingly. Outside food is allowed (but not water? Make it make sense!!!) but don't get cute trying to sneak in liquor because they do search your bags thoroughly. The water is ice cold, and there are vending machines. The bathrooms are clean, the pool and slides are well maintained and there are lifeguards everywhere. I'd imagine this place is super packed on weekends, but we had no issue getting chairs. There was plenty of space for sitting and umbrellas. A big (not particularly deep) pool, surrounded by 3 slides (one for tykes, another for under 7, and the granddaddy of them all, which is towering). So yeah.Īs for the park itself, it's fine. Perhaps worst of all, while you can't bring water bottles in, on the day we went, the park provided coolers of water didn't have any paper cups out. This is a municipal park, not DisneyWorld. The workers were nice enough about enforcement, but it all got a little tiring after awhile. I forgot my phone in the car, and was only allowed to get it when the manager escorted me. No jewelry or even an Apple Watch on the slides. You can't bring in water bottles with water in them. You can't exit, even if you forgot something at your car. This splash park has a LOT of them, and I do mean a LOT. Before deciding to go here, I'd like you to think about one word: RULES.
